1st anniversary of Council of Europe’s condemnation of France for disability rights violations

People with disabilities still struggle with things like getting help, going places because of bad infrastructure, and unfair treatment. French NGOs, including Unapei, is asking for quick changes to fix these problems.

Even though Council of Europe condemned these issues last year, not much has changed:

  • Support, accessibility, health, education, resources: all unchanged.
  • In just one area of France, over 5,000 people are waiting for medical help.
  • Last year, almost a quarter of children with disabilities supported by Unapei couldn’t go to school.

People and families are feeling the pressure because there aren’t enough good solutions for their problems. Buildings and transportation are still hard to use for many disabled people.

Healthcare is tough to access, especially for disabled people and women:

  • Unordered listSometimes doctors won’t help, or you have to wait a long time to see them.
  • Families have to do a lot to care for their disabled loved ones.

Before the European elections, there’s going to be a discussion about these issues. You can learn more and sign up in this form.
