The United Nations has an agreement called the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. It says that people have the right to information that is easy to understand.

Accessible information has improved over the last 20 years. Governments and organizations now use easy-to-read formats.

Some organizations are using artificial intelligence to create documents that are written in plain language, but they don’t always make sense.

Done right, plain language helps people find jobs, know their rights, and live where and how they want to live.
