What is it like to be a woman in the self-advocacy movement?

Speakers

At this online event, we hear from 5 women about their experience in leadership and participation:

Ellis Jongerius, from the Netherlands, is Director of LFB, the national organisation run by and for people with intellectual disabilities. She is also a trainer and co-researcher and is a member of the EPSA Steering Group.

Florence Jablonski, from France, is President of Nous aussi, a Board member of Unapei, and a representative in the French National Consultative Council of Persons with Disabilities. She was recently elected to Vesoul City Council.

Lucy McKee, from Scotland, is a self-advocate with Enable, and Co-Chair of its National Self-Advocacy Forum. She advocates for the rights of people with intellectual disabilities at national and European levels.

Maribel Cáceres, from Spain, is Vice-President of Plena inclusión, and a member of its national platform of self-advocates. She is a trainer, an expert in cognitive accessibility and Easy to Read, and has held leadership roles in the wider disability and women’s movements.

Agenda

  • talk about what helped them get where they are today,
  • and express their views on the opportunities women have in self-advocacy.
