Scotland is not meeting human rights obligations on progress from institutions to independent living

The Scottish Human Rights Commission finds that people with learning disabilities and autistic people are still being held in institutions in breach of their human rights, and no evidence of a human rights based approach to end this practice.

Global: WHO launches disability inclusion guide for action

The WHO disability inclusion Guide for Action is “designed to enable ministries of health to lead and implement disability-inclusive policies, with crucial involvement from persons with disabilities and their organisations. It also engages other ministries, such as finance, transportation and education, and organisations involved in providing disability related services.”

Portugal: sterilisation of women with intellectual disabilities

In an article published on Portuguese media outlet, Publico, the ongoing issue of the forced or coerced sterilisation of women with disabilities in Portugal, a practice that remains legally permitted, is highlighted.
