New organisations join Inclusion Europe. New Board members elected. New president takes over – General Assembly 2026

Members of Inclusion Europe met for a General Assembly on 26 May 2026 in Vicenza, Italy (and online).

Members approved new organisations joinging Inclusion Europe, and elected new Board members.

New members

3 organisations join Inclusion Europe:

  • Inclusion Armenia, as Affiliate member
  • Keystone Moldova, as Affiliate member
  • PIAM, National Self-Advocacy Platform, Italy, as Self-advocacy member

With these additions, Inclusion Europe has 68 member organisations from 38 countries. 19 of our members are self-advocacy organisations and groups from 17 countries.

New Board members

4 new members join the Board of Inclusion Europe:

  • Olena Melnyk, Ukraine
  • Roberto Speziale, Italy
  • Ashley Ryan, Scotland
  • Rosa Couto, Portugal (co-opted for next 2 years)

The Board members are elected for a term of 4 years.

Each Board member can serve for 12 years maximum. This is the case for two Board members, who left the Board at this General Assembly:

  • Mateya De Reya, Slovenia, who was also a Vice-President of Inclusion Europe.
  • Dana Migaliova, Lithuania.

Jeanne Nicklas-Faust becomes President

Inclusion Europe has a new President: Jeanne Nicklas-Faust.

Jeanne Nicklas-Faust

Jeanne was elected at the General Assembly in 2025, and her four-year term as President starts this year.

Jeanne Nicklas-Faust is a mother of her daughter with intellectual disabilities. Jeanne is the director of Inclusion Europe’s member Lebenshilfe, Germany, and has been a Board member of Inclusion Europe for several years.

Jeanne Nicklas-Faust talked about topics she wants to focus on as President:

  1. Strengthening self-advocacy and shared leadership
  2. Developing the space for different family members (parents, siblings…) in the organisation
  3. Enhancing cooperation between members
  4. Defending and advancing independent living and inclusion in the community
  5. Strengthening advocacy and political influence

Jeanne also thanked Mateja De Reya and Dana Migaliovoa for their work for Inclusion Europe.

And she thanked Jyrki Pinomaa for all his work as President. Jyrki served as President for two terms, and will continue to work with the Board as Past-President until 2027.

New Vice-President

Camille Latimier, Czechia, was elected as Vice-President of Inclusion Europe during a Board meeting on 27 May 2026.

The Board also discussed the priorities set out by the new President, Jeanne Nicklas-Faust.

The Board approved a plan to review Inclusion Europe constitution for shared leadership, and for more clarity in membership categories.
