(Some of) what our members’ do to make the world a better place for people with intellectual disabilities and their families

It’s only the start of the year and there’s so much going on. I met with our members online on 22 January to talk about the work they are doing to make the world a better place for people with intellectual disabilities and their families.

🇪🇺 Inclusion Europe report on supported decision-making coming soon.

It shows examples of supported decision-making from across Europe. Removing legal capacity must belong to the past.

🇩🇰 Lev will support people with intellectual disabilities to vote in the general elections this year in Denmark.

They already showed how this works during the 2025 municipal elections.

🇪🇸 Plena inclusión, Spain, highlights the value of life in the community.

They have trainings and information for “community connectors” – community development that helps you to understand the importance of community participation and contribution, the generation of support networks and links between people.

🇦🇹 Inclusion in education is going backwards, says Lebenshilfe Austria

The country is opening new special schools. Self-advocates are pushing back and standing up for inclusive schools.

🇮🇪 Inclusion Ireland keeps promoting inclusive employment, guiding employers and others.

New episodes of the “Make it Work!” podcast are coming.

🇬🇷 2025 marked the start of a new self-advocacy movement.

In 2026, the focus is on growing stronger and going further.
